A Very Big Announcement...Pun Intended

In following with my promise of  last weeks post, I'm going to get a little personal with you all.

Since the start of this blog, I tend to write with alot of humor with a few inappropriate slurs thrown in.  Which is honestly how I speak most of the time (outside of the work place, of course!)  In fact, check out what my bridesmaids bought me for one of my showers....

But in all seriousness, I'd like to open up about something that is very personal to me.  My size 36G breasts.  Yes, you read that right.  36G.

Around the time I turned 14, I began growing abnormally large breasts.  And the crazy thing was, they continued to grow....and grow....and grow.  Most people would assume that weight gain caused my breasts to grow as large as they have.  Yes, I have gained some weight over the years.  However contrary to popular belief, research has proven that there is little to none correlation between breast size and weight gain.

In fact prior to my wedding (in an attempt to make my breasts smaller) I lost 25 lbs, only to realize that my boobs didn't change a bit.

I began thinking about getting a breast reduction during my junior year of college however I never had the courage to follow through with one.  Shortly after my wedding, I scheduled a consultation with a plastic surgeon only to cancel a week before the appointment.

As I approach my one year wedding anniversary and 4 years post college graduation, I am finally ready.

One month from today, I will FINALLY be following through with a long time dream of mine.  On May 3rd, I will be going into surgery and coming out of anesthesia to the start of a new life.  It's still so surreal however I couldn't be MORE excited.  It's taken a long time to get here, but i'm FINALLY ready.

However I have to admit something.  I'm scared shitless.  This is going to be an emotional month for me...

Here are some personal photos that will help give some perspective to what I lug around every. day.

My decision to open up about my surgery out here...for EVERYONE to see was not easy.  However my hope is that in opening up about my journey, perhaps someone else out there will gain the courage to change their  life...

In closing I'd like to link up with Tarafor Target Tuesday with my DREAM bras....that hopefully I'll be able to fit into post surgery! Did you know that this girl only owns nude and black bras. They don't make cutesy bras like these for the 36G size sistahs out there!

Wow. I am severely lacking in boobage, so I can't imagine what it's like to be on the other side of the fence, but I'm glad you're taking the steps to get to where you want to be!

Anne --- that last picture is hilarious!! I love that even through your fear you can still find the silver lining! I just went through surgery last month, so I know a little bit about your anxiety. Just keep smiling and everything will turn out alright!

That is HUGE news. SO happy for you on this. I myself have also thought about this several times and have done a consultation. Only to have insurance deny it. I didn't want to go through the WHOLE paper battle with insurance and decided against it. I think about it every now and then. Good Luck, you'll do great.

I have big boobs too, and while not as big as yours, there is nothing like coming home from studying at the library to find your roommate and friend wearing your bras stuffed full of socks!! I don't know who was more shocked, them or me. That was 20 years ago and it obviously left me scarred. Lol. And I know what you mean about dreaming of pretty bras. They don't make anything pretty in any size larger than 36DD. Ugh. Really?? And we won't talk about posture. It's hard to stand up straight with all that extra weight up there! Congratulations on your two new additions, *er reductions* . . . . I hope they are everything you dreamed of and a little bit more. By now you should be feeling better and I'm sure the reward of pretty bras and running without flopping will be worth every moment on your vicodin high!
