Weekend Update: The Anatomy of a List

You know what I love MOST about blogging?
(Outside of the relationships I've built of course)

All of the GREAT ideas I get from you gals!
Everyday, every week, there's always new ideas & a fresh perspective to be found & I just love it.

The latest idea I've snagged is compliments of this crazy cat who loves Basset Hounds.

Make Lists.

I'm one of those crazy cats who just CAN'T sit still. I like to pretend like I'm one of those girls who can curl up on the couch with a great book & hot cup of coffee & just read the afternoon away.

Yeah frickin' right.

What I call relaxing on a Saturday is running frantically around the house starting 8 different projects & barely finishing one of them at days end.

So when Sarah mentioned she & her husband made a list of things they wanted to accomplish over a weekends time, I snatched that idea up like my Chihuahua eats her food.
And for the record, she eats super fast.

So with my newfound wisdom I approached this weekend with a different mentality.
A list making mentality. And I loved it.

Did my weekend consist of anything exciting to normal people?
  Hell no.

But for my junk drawer, so super exciting.
 Organized.

Check.

 We bought a new laptop.

Check.

Finished plastering hearts all over my entire house in honor of Valentines Day.

Check.

Gave myself a French mani.

Check.

And hey, I managed to squeeze in about five miles on the pavement.

Good for my ass? Yes.  Good for my energy level?  Hell yes.

I smell many more lists in my future.

Now, time to take on another Monday morning.  But hey, at least I have a new mani.

Makes a Monday morning SO much easier.

Linking up with Sami & Leeann...you should too.

Saw It, Pinned It, Did It: Halloween Edition

This new link up hosted by the fabulous duo, Katie & Steph, could not have come at a better time.

Considering my house has been completely overtaken with glue guns, modge podge & lotssssss of orange & black.

Thank you Michaels.

I picked my 3 fave DIY's I completed in prep for our first Halloween Part-tay last weekend.

Some of you have seen some teasers on my Instagram (@annexenos) feed these past couple weeks, but I saved some for this link up.

If you're stopping by from KCCO, first and foremost....WELCOME FRIENDS!  Secondly, you've seen the adorABLE Glass Vase Makeover.

The original source was of course, our dear friend Pinterest.

This is pretty cut & dry folks, you glue the orange carstock to the vase with the black cardstock design on top.

I know, super easy.

The only thing I would add to Katie's instructions is to stay FAR away from the spray adhesive.  Go with the Modge Podge, folks.

Way easier & now my absolute FAVORITE crafting supply.  I use it TIME & TIME again.  The black roses....impossible to find.  I bought some cheapo ones from Walmart & the $0.96 black spray paint, and threw those puppies in the vase.  So Halloween-ey.

This project is great when you have that perfect little wall to hang it on.  Since the main wall of our living room is french doors, there was the perfect spot right between both sets of doors.

Supplies Needed:
White (or wooden) Letters
Halloween Craft Paper
Ribbon
And of course, ol faithful, Modge Podge

Trace, cut, glue & hang!

If you have a mantle, you can agree that it is the BEST place to decorate season in and season out.

Supplies Needed:
All the supplies listed for the project above, two super cute projects & only one set of supplies!

I will say, this project is not for the in patient.  It took me about 3.5 hours to complete, but so worth it.
A tip for you:  BE SURE & MEASURE OUT FLAGS.  Don't try to wing it.  Measure the mantle, see what space you have to work with.  Cut the ribbon that will HOLD the flags first, then measure & see what size flags will fit.  I used the back of the half used Halloween paper for my white circles, versus buying white cardstock.

Ok...almost done.  Just a couple more.

I don't have a good daylight pic of this next project, so I'll use the actual Pinterest photo to give you an idea of how it turned out.

I saw the inspiration photo and just KNEW I had to re create.  So, I went to our local Pier1.   Does anyone else have a love affair with that place???  If I was rich, I would be in there EVERYDAY.  Ugghhh.  I die over their decor!!

Anyway, we have a long concrete staircase leading down to our house.  So what better accent than light up pumpkins!  Snagged these suckers up (on sale of course) for around $15.  The hooks, compliments of Home Depot.

Speaking of love affairs.....(cough cough, Home Depot, cough).

And last, but absolutely not least.  My FAVORITE Halloween decor at the Xenos house this season...

Everyone has a wheelbarrow....or maybe it's a Midwest thing.

Grab yourself a bag 'o bones & a bag o' dirt, and plop the wheelbarrow wherever you please.

I hope you love how everything turned out!  I know I do.

Just call me Ms. Pinterest.

Now head on over & link up!

Things I Love.

Hey.

Do you remember me?

I'm Anne.  And I blog around here.

And I love vodka.

Like big bottles of vodka.

I also love my girlfriends.

I love antiques....boy do I love antiques.  Combine that with a super handy husband & you can creat a little something like this.

I love that we leave for our cruise in T-4 days.

And last, but certainly not least.  I love Pinterest...can I get an AMEN.

I also love Link Ups.  So when I came across Katie & Stephs  fab new link up.  I knew I had to get in on that shizzzz.  'Speshially with all the DIY Halloween projects that have taken a dump in my house as of late.

Hello.  Perfect timing.

See you again tomorrow.

I know, two days in a row.

Can you frickin' believe it!?

I can't.

24 hours from now....

I'll be prepped for my breast reduction surgery. Wowza.

I can't believe the day is finally here...and to make this week even more stressful, I came down with a mad crazy sinus infection. I mean, what the hell. How does that happen!!??

What makes that even more scary is that they can't put you under if you have a fever...or if the infection has spread to your chest.

You better believe my ass was at the clinic Monday afternoon getting started on a Zpack of antibiotics.

The rough part is that they are just now starting to help...no workforce me today which totally stunk as I will be off for a week and a half recovering from surgery so it definitely wasn't in my plan to be off today. Blah. And I digress.

I thought I'd share a few pics from my B(Reast) In Peace party this past weekend. Hey, it was my last weekend with the big tata's, why not celebrate a little.

My handsome an amazingly supportive husband!

Best cupcakes ever!

The centerpiece foto

In closing, I have to tell you about this super easy boobie craft we came up with!
Boobs on a stick. Fun party favor & absolutely hilarious for Fotos!

The hubs helping me make them in my craft room.

All done!

What did you gain from reading this post, you ask?

You now know how to throw a successful B(Reast) in Peace party.

You're welcome.

The Anatomy of a Lima Bean Wreath: Part Two

And I'm back for part two of how my Lima Bean wreath came to be. I posted a few before & after fotos on Facebook and a few gals seemed to be into the idea, so I thought I'd do a little write up.

A couple months ago I came across this ahhhmazingly creative gal & her blog, All Things Thrifty! I mean who doesn't love pointers on how to save a buck now & then?! This girl does!

Supplies Needed:

Styrofoam wreath from Michael's or Hobby Lobby (with 40% off coupon, under $10)

Indoor/Outdoor ribbon from the Walmart craft section, color of YOUR choice $5

Depending on your door color, you may or may NOT want to spray paint. I decided to go with a rich glossy brown as our door color was too similar to the color of the beans
Krylon spray paint in glossy brown $4

One (i made the mistake of buying two) bag of the large lima beans from Walmart $3

Don't forget a hot glue gun & approx 10 sticks of glue!!!

Total: Less than $20!

Here are some photos to give you a visual play by play.

Getting all prepped in my cute 'lil craft room

The trick is to start with a heavy slant with the beads

I lurve me some Krylon!

Cut a nice LONG piece of ribbon

And there she is!

Feel free to leave me comments with any and all questions!

Tootles and Happy Tuesday!

The Weekend we Antique-infied the House

My husband and I have always LURVED antiques....however we've never had a big enough place to truly enjoy decorating with them.

We have an f'in amazing antique mall here in Kansas City down in the river market. You can get in some serious $$ trouble there and boy did we ENJOY spending every dollar!

Check out our new treasures including the orgasmically amazing horseshoe coat rack the hubs made HIMSELF from a few horseshoes, a cattle pull and a trip to the hardware store! There's a few more, but thought I'd get ya started with a few sneak peeks...
From 1948!!! Our new entryway table
